Tarnovian Scientific Colloquia is an important element of developing research activities in the school. The double reviewd journal gives the school staff the possibility to showcase their research. The journal is divided into several sections devoted to particular subject areas. It is published quarterly and includes both home and international authors.
The main objective behind the intervention was a way to motivate staff to engage in research activities. It is also a hub gathering a community of practice that co-operates and provides opportunities for learning from one another in case advice is needed,
To proceede with the development of the journal the institution set up a publishing unit responsible for text setting and organizing the process of reviewing and printing. The publication is made available for public libraries as well as commercial bookshops.

Human resources (to run the publication unit) and financial resources (reviewing, publishing) are needed.
What are the enabling factors making this case successful?Consider institutional support, environmental/social/political factors, etc.
The main enabling factor is institutional support which may even override lack of political will. The institutional culture that fosters lifelong learning both in students and staff is also important. Environmental factors such as the need for research activities in the area are also crucial as it is the applied research activities that are most desirable.
Why do you consider this case to be good/best practice?Please consider that a best practice must (a) have a clearly defined objective to increase the connection with the World of Work, (b) address the target groups of the project, (c) be replicable and sustainable, (d) have clearly demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in increasing the connection with the World of Work
It is good practice as it allows the researchers to share the knowledge gained while carrying out applied research with both academics and representatives of industry. It aso ensures that students get up-to-date information and first hand insight into many areas from people who deal with the problems as they appear in the field. The industry benefits a lot from reserchers investigating and solving day-to-day problems of their area when they appear. Such aliance give them the possibility to look for innovative developments in areas that otherwise might have been left unanswered.
