Division for Research and Development has been created in 2016. Its main objective is to develop cooperation with industry. The unit coordinates and supports the R&D activities of individual researchers and research groups in the School. It also organizes cyclic Scientific Seminars with participation of external stakeholders.
What resources are required for the case?Consider human resources, financial resources, infrastructure, in-kind resources and any other type required.
Institutional resources are fully sufficient. It is a question of appropriate allocation of human and material resources.
What are the enabling factors making this case successful?Consider institutional support, environmental/social/political factors, etc.
The main factor is the interest of both sides: our staff and external stakeholders. Over 50 persons from our staff are involved in various R&D activities, there are several groups working on advanced technologies, there is also visitble interest of our local partners - the representatives of companies from the region take active part in our scientific seminars.
Why do you consider this case to be good/best practice?Please consider that a best practice must (a) have a clearly defined objective to increase the connection with the World of Work, (b) address the target groups of the project, (c) be replicable and sustainable, (d) have clearly demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in increasing the connection with the World of Work
In a large institution coordinating and supporting the efforts of researchers motivates the staff to carry out research and makes it more likely to obtain sponsorship or orders from industry. It is also a good example of synergy between institutional policy and strategy, individual interests and research work of the staff and the needs of external partners.
