Students' practice is a good way of acquiring practical knowledge of students, their development and advancement from the beginning to the end of the study. A student is formed as a person ready for the labor market and can apply his / her own knowledge. At the Univeristy of applied sciences Hrvatsko zagorje Krapina for student practice is a professor who is also the head of professional practice.
At the third year of study, all students are addressing the guide for guidance. Practice is mandatory for 160 hours, in the summer, semester of study.
But considering the usefulness of the internship itself, we considered the possibility of adding practice to the second year of study. Practice would take place in the winter semester and would be mandatory for each student. When conducting professional practice, a practice diary is provided, which is evidence that students have acquired the necessary competences and conducted the practice. After completing the practice, the practice diary is submitted to the student referral and is stored in the student file. Without a practice diary, the practitioner should not enter the practice in the student index.

What resources are required for the case?

Consider human resources, financial resources, infrastructure, in-kind resources and any other type required.

In order to have good practice developed and done, the practice manager is tasked with giving students the best organization to practice. It is not only important to find a business, but also to look at the best place to practice.
Practice is largely assisted by local units. There is the necessary information for the labor market and what kind of staff is needed. Since we are the only University in the county, students gain recognition and soon after graduation and find a job.
Practice can be done abroad, for a longer period of time, where financial resources for a student come from a contractual agreement of practice, by the Mobility Agency. The city administration as well as the county. as founders also help in student counseling and admission to student practice.

What are the enabling factors making this case successful?

Consider institutional support, environmental/social/political factors, etc.

First of all, we need to be grateful that some of the larger companies in the county have a wide range of jobs in the work of our University , where the students could learn a lot in practice. We believe that this is the key factor.
Also, the alumni are credited with the administration of university how to start and develop their skills. The tips of successful and graduate students are always welcome.
At the beginning of the academic year, when the lectures begin, they come to the University of people from the business world. With their examples, they give students some advice on how to do the job search and how to convince the employer to get a student to practice.

Why do you consider this case to be good/best practice?

Please consider that a best practice must (a) have a clearly defined objective to increase the connection with the World of Work, (b) address the target groups of the project, (c) be replicable and sustainable, (d) have clearly demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in increasing the connection with the World of Work

I consider that we have chosen the right case for development. Of course, each university has its own set of professional practice, but it is useful to develop and expand the experience with other institutions. Sometimes the acquired knowledge is based on theory, so the practical practice of students is a practical part where the student demonstrates their skills. We believe that introducing mandatory two professional practices will also encourage students to work on skills development to become competitive after graduation.
