We joined projects with business entities and local community in order to enable mutual knowledge and new technologies transfer and make collaboration agreements with business entities on the student internship and field lectures implementation. Projects are selected according to the relevance to our study programs and students’ interest. In this way, students’ theoretical knowledge is upgraded and expanded through practical knowledge, spending their internship working for local businesses and getting to know WoW, which makes them more competitive in WoW and also gives them opportunity to make business contacts and possibly find employment in those businesses.

Human resources are required, including the teaching staff involved in organizing and tutoring student internship. No financial or infrastructure resources are needed.

What are the enabling factors making this case successful?

Consider institutional support, environmental/social/political factors, etc.

The factors that make the case successful are the positive interaction of students with WoW, which leads to creating connections with businesses and feedback from the WoW concerning the students' competencies and preparedness for entering WoW, i.e. feedback on the study programs and their relevance to WoW.

Why do you consider this case to be good/best practice?

Please consider that a best practice must (a) have a clearly defined objective to increase the connection with the World of Work, (b) address the target groups of the project, (c) be replicable and sustainable, (d) have clearly demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in increasing the connection with the World of Work

The cooperation of Virovitica College with local business entities is an example of good practice because it gives both parties the opportunity to meet and interact. It impacts the creation of curriculum and enables students to gain valuable hands-on experience in desired field of work.
