Every year our students visit international tourist fair ITB Berlin.
Students gain knowledge on following topics:
- Airport operations (check-in procedure, boarding, inflight service…).
- Local transport and purchasing tickets (U-Bahn, S-Bahn etc.).
- Study visit at the luxury hotels 5* (all hotel departments including guest’s rooms and suites).
- Comparison of luxury hotels 5* and youth hotels/hostels.
- Attending at the professional tour guiding with local tour guide.
- Tasting local food and beverage.
- Getting to know top gastronomy products from all over the world on one place (example KaDeWe).
- German language, world history and politics
- Visit and guidnce through German parliament (Reichstag).
- Culture and arts (Museums Insel).
- Other nations, customs and cultures,
- Widening the horizons.
- Developing openness and tolerance towards other beliefs, culture, gender and lifestyles.

What resources are required for the case?

Consider human resources, financial resources, infrastructure, in-kind resources and any other type required.

In order to realise these excursion, it is necessary to provide intensive cooperation and communication between lectures involved in these project.
Financial contribution by the College (travel and accommodation expenses for the lecturers).
Financial contribution by the students (travel and accommodation expenses).
Mentoring the students for the preparation and realisations of these project.

What are the enabling factors making this case successful?

Consider institutional support, environmental/social/political factors, etc.

During 4-days stay in Berlin students have the opportunity to get in touch with WoW and have interviews for their internship with HRMs.
Students learn all above mentioned activities and competences and overall they improve their knowledge of:
- German language,
- tourist guiding,
- gastronomy,
- hotel operations,
- local transport,
- natural and culture heritage,
- tourism geography and history.

Why do you consider this case to be good/best practice?
