Professional higher education is practical in nature, and as such, focusing on the acquisition of professional skills. A large proportion of practical lessons are carried out in smaller groups – thus the lecturer has more time for each student. If necessary, there is more than one lecturer in the lesson. Theoretical studies are connected with solving practical tasks. Some practical lessons are carried out in a realistic work environment. This helps to relate the knowledge acquired at school with the real work (e.g. policing: participating in searches for missing people and police operations, securing public events, carrying out people and vehicle checks in the Port of Tallinn).
Human resources - it needs more than one lecturer at the same time.
Financial resources - more staff means labour costs are higher.
Rooms and time-schedule - difficulties to find rooms and create timetable (two/three lecturers and different groups at the same time).
Simulations and special rooms for "realistic environment".
Good cooperation and role distribution between lecturers.
Special rooms, environment
Financial resources.
Lecturers can follow everybody and give feedback to students effort. Students can see better the whole picture and join theoretical and practical work, knowledge and skills to achieve learning outcomes. Also it helps to prepare students better for internship in WoW.
